What Doug Says About Why He Is Participating in The Retreat:

On the first day of first grade, our teacher asked us to color a picture of a buffalo in brown crayon. Feeling creative, I used black and brown crayons, earning a reprimand. Ever since, I’ve been fascinated with the polarity between organizational freedom and accountability.

I was fortunate to be able to engage my curiosity every day by working in an actual self-managed organization where freedom and accountability co-existed in abundant quantities.

By writing, speaking, and consulting around the promise of such organizations, I avail myself of every opportunity to learn from the leaders and innovators of the future of work.
