What Dave indicates as takeaways from his presentation:

An integration of psychology, neuroscience, and behavioral economics with strategic mentor coaching and how it can applied to mind and brain based leadership:

  • Develop Your Organizational Story
  • Master Mind and Brain Strategies of Making Changes That Last
  • Understand and Regulate States of Mind to Optimize Performance
  • Effectively Use Appreciative inquiry and Conversational Intelligence
  • Create Success Mindsets and Maps

What Dave says about why he is participating in this event:

We often attempt to create change in ways that are contrary to how the mind and brain work.  Facts, beliefs, and patterns of behavior are all anatomical realities in our brain.  We can’t just suddenly have a better fact or idea, and expect it to override what is already there.  Or tell somebody how to do something better and expect that it will happen.  But change can occur as an informed process.

One of our most significant challenges is to regulate states of mind through various emotional triggers and charged situations to sustain peak performance.  A gap in performance has more to do with mindset than intelligence.  A state of mind of confidence is more correlated with success than competence or expertise.  Success strategies to regulate states of mind and optimize personal and professional performance significantly impact both effectiveness and the bottom line.

I am honored for the invitation to share some ideas with the Academy on the importance of applying research in the mind and brain sciences to more effective collaboration and leadership.
